The History of KKI
King’s Kids International (KKI) is a ministry of YWAM and has been in existence now for over 27 years. It currently has full-time staff workers in 110 nations of the world. The International Founders of KKI are Dale and Carol Kauffman. It was founded in Hawaii in 1976 with a small group of children who practiced to listen to Gods voice and then applied what they learned. Some important dates from KK International and from South Asia 1976 “Green Frogs”, “Rainbow” – First ever King’s Kids Outreach and start of KK. 1977 King’s Kids Hawaii: Easter and Christmas outreaches in hotels, schools and shopping mall 1978 First international outreach to Japan 1979 First tour of Europe: Germany, Holland, and Spain 1980 First “Small Half Foundation training” (SFT) in Hawaii First multiplication of teams in Los Angeles Olympic outreach to Los Angeles: 5 teams 1986 Large KK gathering in Vancouver, BC, Canada 1987 First PCYM in Europe: Wiler, Switzerland 1992 First KKi outreach out of India to Target World in Spain 1994 In India KK was started officially with a PCYM (Principles in Child and Youth Ministry) School that was led by Lance and Lisa Rediger and had Lone Barua and Gia Raskino as staff. The outreach after the school led them all over India and Nepal and out of that outreach a KK Team in Pokhara Nepal started. 1997 an other PCYM took place, this time in Kalimpong, Northern India. 1999 the PCYM was held in Nepal and out of that PCYM a Team was formed that is still going strong and will start to spread out to other areas of Nepal soon. Also the KK Team in Delhi was a fruit of that PCYM. 2000 November, the first KKI South Asia Conference was held in Kolkatta. At this point Lone Barua gave her leadership of KK in South Asia over to them team leaders and to Babs Rüegger to become the KKI SA Coordinator. 2001 After the PCYM and an outreach to Gujarat, a KK team started in Ahmedabad, the capital of Gujarat to reach out through children’s clubs to the children there and to run Go-Camps. Now KKI SA has locations in many places over SA, hopefully soon also in Bangladesh and Sri Lanka.
